Second edition of the international conference on Libraries and Archives in the Digital Humanities Era

With the digital transformation that we are experiencing today, the archiving of documents is regaining remarkable interest. All of the long-term questions about collections and resources management are now in the short term. Thus, producers and consumers share the same technological tools linked to the transmission and preservation of content. Digital users are not only concerned with the communication of documents in the space of their social, administrative and economic activity, but also by the perpetuation of the transmission of these documents.
The digital user is thus confronted with problems related to the specificities of the adopted formats, the question of confidence in the supports, the long-term preservation of records. All of this poses a number of technological and procedural challenges to the integrity and authenticity of content, the presumption of which must be supported by evidence. Moreover, the notions of integrity and authenticity no longer concern the material trace only, but also the fact of allowing its technical exploitation with the aim of reconstructing the content. On the other hand, the durability of documents is currently at an impasse: "the digital sector devotes information and enthuses the data, to the detriment - symbolic at least - of the document" (Hiraux, 2016)
These problems become more important when the information objects mostly conveyed by networks are increasingly multimedia, evanescent and difficult to define their statutes (public and private).
This virtual reality poses other challenges for the training of memory specialists, librarians, documentalists and archivists who, often trained to deal with clearly identifiable documents, are united now at the level of practices and solidarity at the level of missions. These specialists are becoming more and more uncomfortable when it comes to "connected objects" on the net. They are called to rethink everything in this extremely fluent environment.
In this second edition of the symposium, we propose a series of reflections on all these issues related to technological advances in the dissemination, enhancement and perpetuation of content in the digital humanity’s era and their impact on the profession of the information specialist in the field at the professional, cultural and social level. We also propose to update the skills needed for these new "information architects" (Salaun & Habert, 2015), and finally how do we compare the different specialties of information, namely, archival, documentation and library science, publishing, computer science, multimedia, etc. in this "Big Data" revolution.
